It is the only company of Indian origin that figures in UKbased brand valuation company Brand Finance’s Top 250 Most Valuable Global Brands list. Brand Tata is ranked at 103. In any case, the list is a bit of a dampener in any case at a time when Indian brands are being tom-tommed as having “arrived” in the global arena.

The merger was hit by ‘objecting’ forces as soon as it was devised.
